| At 01:46 hours, the Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 (Montco 43) volunteers were dispatched to the 100 block of East Elm Street in Conshohocken Borough to assist the Conshohocken Fire Company No. 2 on a reported building fire. Numerous 911 callers reported a vehicle had struck the office building and was now engulfed in flames.
First arriving chief officers reported a well involved vehicle against the side of the building with extension into the first floor/garage level. CFD's Chief 55 assumed command and requested the working fire dispatch brining several mutual aid companies to the scene.
Squirt and Chief 43 with a crew of 6 arrived and assumed second due engine company responsibilities. The crew assisted in hand jacking Engine 55's supply line to a hydrant to secure a positive water supply and then split with members stretching a second 1¾" hoseline to assist with extinguishment while the others entered the building to check for further fire extension.
The vehicle fire was found to be gas fed as it collided with the building's gas meter. Squirt 43's aerial master stream was placed in service to provide a water curtain to contain the fire until the arrival of Peco to secure the gas.
Engine companies extinguished all visible fire on the interior of the building and Peco secured the gas resulting in complete extinguishment of the vehicle fire. Crews remained on scene for several hours performing ventilation and overhaul of the building. Squirt 43 was released by command and available from the scene just after 07:30 hours. |
