At 13:19 hours the volunteers and career staff of the Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 (Montco 43) were dispatched to mile marker 17.9 Northbound on Route I-476 the Blue Route for a reported vehicle on fire.

Chief 43 arrived to find 1 SUV on the right shoulder of the highway and the engine compartment well involved in fire.

Engine 43 with a crew of 4 arrived along with Squad 39-1 and placed an 1¾" hoseline in service to quickly knock down all visible fire with only minor extension into the front passenger area of the vehicle. The scene was then turned over to the PA State Police and units were available just before 14:00 hours.
