Back-to-Back Building Fire Responses to Norristown Borough

Your Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 (Montco 43) volunteers were kept busy Sunday evening and into the early morning hours Monday.

At 19:45 hours, Ladder 43 responded to assist the Norristown Fire Department on the 200 block of E. Oak Street for a reported house on fire. Station 27 units arrived to a heavy smoke condition in the basement due to a fire in the electrical service. Companies awaited for Peco to arrive and secure power and then quickly extinguished the fire. Ladder 43 was in service for primary searches, throwing multiple ground ladders and assisted with ventilation. The company was made available just before 21:30 hours.

At 00:01 hours, Ladder 43 again responded to the area of Airy Street and George Street in Norristown Borough for multiple calls reporting the rear of a house on fire. NFD units arrived to find a large rubbish fire to the rear of a residence on the 600 block of Airy Street with minor extension tona detached garage. Ladder 43 assisted with opening up the soffit area of the affected garage and checking for extension on multiple floors of the residence. The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes and station 43 was available by 00:45.
