Just before 13:00 hours as units from both Plymouth Township Fire Companies were committed on a working dwelling fire in Norristown Borough, the Harmonville Fire Company No.1 was dispatched to the PA turnpike in the area of Plymouth Road for a reported vehicle accident with entrapment.

Montco 911 center received multiple calls for a sedan that collided into the jersey barrier and then flipped over and off the turnpike bridge landing on Plymouth Road in the township. With these reports the Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 (Montco 43) was added to the incident to assist.

Chief 43 arrived to find 1 sedan off the bridge on its side and confirmed one occupant entrapped and established command. Due to area units being committed to the dwelling fire, stand by resources from Gladwyne Volunteer Fire Company and Merion Fire Company of Ardmore were requested to the scene.

HFC's Rescue and Squad 44 along with Ladder 24 and Engine 25-1 quickly went to work stabilizing the vehicle and then placed the hydraulic rescue tools in service to perform a roof flap to successfully extricate the entrapped occupant. Command marked the rescue complete within 15 minutes. The occupant was transferred to the care of medics of Plymouth Community Ambulance Association - Medic 308

Many thanks to the officers and troopers of the Plymouth Township Police Department and PA State Police for assisting with traffic control and the crash investigation! All fire units were clear of the scene by 13:45 hours. Our thoughts and well wishes go out to the occupant for a full and speedy recovery!
