Last evening at 22:59 hours your Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 (Montco 43) volunteers were dispatched to the North Italia Restaurant located at 350 Mall Boulevard in Upper Merion Township to assist Upper Merion Township Fire & EMS on a reported building fire.

Rescue and Deputy Chief 43 made the response with a crew of 5 as the Rapid Intervention Team. First in crews from the UMTFD found an active electrical fire behind the walls in the kitchen area and quickly extinguished the same.

The crew of the rescue stood fast as the RIT team during the operation and were then placed into service overhauling and opening up walls and ceilings inside the restaurant along with personnel from the Bridgeport Fire Department and Berwyn Fire Company.

Several companies from the surrounding area provided mutual aid at this incident to include the Norristown Fire Department, Lower Providence Fire Department, Radnor Fire Company and the Upper Merion Township Police Department.

Command placed the fire under control by the 1 hour mark and the crew from station 43 was clear from the scene just prior to 01:00 hours. Great work by all companies on scene!
