At 02:59 hours, Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 (Montco 43) units were dispatched to mile marker 16.2 Northbound on Route I-476 the Blueroute for a reported vehicle on fire. Initial notes indicated flames and smoke coming from a vehicle on the left shoulder.

Chief 43 arrived on location to find a 4 door sedan well involved in fire. Engine 43 with a crew of 3 arrived as the first due engine and immediately went into service with the front bumper 1 ¾" hoseline to begin knocking down the fire.

George Clay Fire Company's Squad 39 arrived shortly after and placed a second hoseline in service to assist with extinguishment. Squirt 43 with a crew of 3 was directed into the scene from staging and their manpower was also placed into service. Due to a ruptured fuel tank units would have to place 2 buckets of foam in service to complete extinguishment on this stubborn fire.

The incident was placed under control with no reported injuries to the vehicle's occupants or to first responders. Station 43 units were clear and available just after 04:00 hours.
