The volunteers of the Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 (Montco 43) got an early start to their Halloween Sunday as we were dispatched at 03:55 hours to mile marker 18.8 Northbound on I-476 the Blueroute for the vehicle accident with entrapment.

Montgomery County 911 center received the report from a witness on scene that a pick up truck veered off the highway flipping and rolling over the guardrail and into the wooded area on the right shoulder. The witness reported 1 occupant ejected during the roll over with a passenger still inside unable to get out.

Rescue 43 with a crew of 4 along with Chief 43 made the response. Chief 43 arrived and confirmed entrapment and established I-476 command. Rescue 43 arrived soon after and immediately placed the front bumper Hurst hydraulic rescue tools in service to complete a door pop on the passenger side of the vehicle freeing the trapped occupant. Command marked the rescue complete in just under 6 minutes.

Both occupants were transferred into the care of awaiting EMS from Plymouth Community Ambulance Association - Medic 308 and Narberth Ambulance and transported to local hospitals. The crash investigation was being handled by the PA State Police and the scene was turned over to them.

Station 43 was clear and available from the scene just before 04:30 hours. Our thoughts and well wishes go out to those involved in this morning's incident for a speedy recovery!
