Ladder 43 Assists the Norristown Fire Department on the Working Apartment Fire

At 15:55 hours, your Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 (Montco 43) volunteers were dispatched to assist the Norristown Fire Department on the 800 block of Laura Lane for the reported building fire. Initial calls to the Montco 911 center reported flames and smoke from the kitchen in an apartment inside building "A".

As NFD's Assistant Chief 27 went en route county advised of multiple callers reporting flames coming from an apartment window resulting in the working fire dispatch to be struck. Assistant 27 arrived to find a 3 story apartment building with smoke showing from the second floor.

First in engine crews from Quint and Engine 27 arrived and placed an 1 ¾" hoseline in service to quickly knock down fire in the kitchen. Ladder and Chief 43 made the response and upon arrival assumed 2nd due truck company responsibilities. The ladder positioned on the Delta side and threw the main to the roof. The crew then met up with 1st due truck company personnel off Lower Providence Fire Department'sTower Ladder 53 assisting them with secondary searches on all floors as well as ventilation.

The incident was placed under control within 20 minutes with no further extension to the building. There were no reported injuries to civilians or to first responders.

Ladder 43 was clear and available from the scene just prior to 17:00 hours.
