Yesterday afternoon at approximately 14:30 hours, the volunteers and career staff of the Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 (Montco 43) were dispatched to the 400 block of River Road in Upper Merion Township to assist the Upper Merion Township Fire & EMS department on a working building fire.

UMTFD units arrived on scene to find heavy smoke showing from a large trash transfer facility and immediately requested the working fire dispatch. This request brought Rescue 43 as the Rapid Intervention Team into the scene.

Rescue 43 with a crew of 5 made the response and stood by as the RIT team along with the crew of Gladwyne Volunteer Fire Company 's Engine 24 foe duration of the incident.

Crews placed multiple master streams and portable monitors in service to knock down a heavy fire load found in the trash piles of the facility. Due to the lack of fire hydrants in the immediate area command requested the County's Large Diameter Hose strike force to the scene. Multiple engine companies from the county made the response and utilized over 6000 feet of 5 inch hose to pump water to the scene. Pumper tankers from Chester County also assisted at the scene providing large quantities of water to assist the operation.

Station 43 personnel were released from the scene just after 21:30 hours. A tremendous job and teamwork by all companies who operated at the scene!
